  • cup oil

How to Make the Hot Chocolate Cupcakes?

Excited to begin? Here are the simple steps to follow:

Firstly, preheat the oven to 350 and prepare cupcake tins with 24 liners.

Secondly, add cake mix, eggs, water, cocoa, vanilla, and oil into a bowl and mix them until well combined.

Thirdly, divide the batter evenly among the cups. Then, bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until the toothpick comes out clean. Let the cupcakes cool in pans for 30 minutes. 

Fourthly, it is time to make the frosting. Begin with adding marshmallow creme, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and choice of liquid to a bowl and mix on low until incorporated for 2 to 3 minutes. Then, proceed to mix it on high for an additional 3 to 4 minutes.

Fifthly, add frosting to a piping bag with a tip 1A. Squeeze a circle on the top of the cupcake.

Finally, add a mini candy cane to the side and a few mini marshmallows on top, and you are done!

Ingredients
  

  • Cupcakes
  • 1 15 oz box vanilla cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tbsp hot cocoa mix
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • Marshmallow frosting
  • 7 oz Marshmallow fluff or crème
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter room temperature
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk or flavored coffee creamer
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350
  • Prepare cupcake tins with 24 liners
  • Add cake mix, eggs, water, cocoa, vanilla and oil to a bowl. Mix until well combined.
  • Divide evenly among the cups.
  • Bake for 15-18 mins or until the toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let cool in pans for 30 mins
  • Make the Frosting
  • Add marshmallow crème, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and choice of liquid to a bowl
  • Mix on low until incorporated (2-3 min), then mix on HIGH for an additional 3-4 mins.
  • Add frosting to a piping bag with a tip 1A
  • Squeeze a circle on the top of the cupcake
  • Add a mini candy cane to the side and a few mini marshmallows on top!
